The Catholic Youth Leadership Award was established in 1959 by the Louisiana State Council. In the beginning, the State Council recognized only boys and in 1971 they begain to recognize one boy and one girl as their State CYLA winners.
Council Awards- Councils create their won awards.
Diocesan Awards - Each Diocesan Winner will receive $1,000!
State Awards:
1st Place: Winner will receive $5,000, a plaque and chance to be hoonored at the KC State Convention!
2nd Place: Winners will receive $3,000!
3rd Place: Winners will receive $2,000!
The CYLA Process
High School Students complete an online CYLA application, and the application must be sponsored by a local Knights of Columbus Council.
The local Council selects one boy and one girl as thier Council CYLA winners.
The local Council boy and girl winners are then sent to t he Diocesan Administrators to compete on a Diocesan level.
Each Diocesan boy and girl winner is provided a chance to participate in the State CYLA Finals.
